Hot Air Tour: LIVE from Copenhagen
‘LIVE from Copenhagen’ Webcast to Combat U.N. Conference’s Energy-Rationing Agenda
Americans for Prosperity will extend its Hot Air Tour, which has exposed the “ballooning” cost of global warming alarmism across the United States, worldwide on December 9. AFP President Tim Phillips and Policy Director Phil Kerpen will broadcast LIVE from Copenhagen to report on the U.N. Climate Change Conference the same day President Obama is attending.
AFP’s more than 75 Hot Air Tour events thus far, complete with a hot air balloon, have focused on congressional attempts to tax and ration Americans’ energy usage in the name of global warming. Now, AFP goes abroad to “U.N.-mask international global warming alarmism.”
“President Obama has said he will promise massive cuts in U.S. carbon emissions at this conference, and that would mean massive tax hikes on American families,” said Tim Phillips, president of AFP. “Bowing to international ‘green’ pressure would increase economic hardship for taxpayers trying to heat their homes and drive to work. The last thing we should be doing is punishing working families and killing jobs.”
Americans can watch the Webcast live in their homes, on their lunch breaks, or at a grassroots event in their own states. The primary U.S. event will be held in Philadelphia, Pa. Hot Air Tour to Stop in Portland
AFP plans event on same day Al Gore travels to Portland to discuss climate solutions proposed in his new book
The free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is taking its nationwide Hot Air Tour to former Vice President Al Gore in Portland on Wednesday, November 18, to expose the extreme economic costs of cap-and trade-legislation to the American taxpayer.
“This cap-and-trade scheme is nothing more than a tax on energy—plain and simple,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “Al Gore’s climate ‘solutions’ seek to further regulate our lives and burden the American taxpayer. Oregonians deserve to know the truth behind these proposals that may work their way into legislation.”
AFP’s Hot Air Tour has the goal of building grassroots pressure against costly state, local, and federal climate change policies. AFP has pledged to mobilize citizens in order to fight off any attempts to pass a cap-and-trade regulatory scheme.
In the summer of 2008, AFP flew its 70-foot-tall hot air balloon over Al Gore’s house outside of Nashville, Tennessee to expose the hysteria behind global warming alarmism. On Wednesday, November 18, AFP will take on Al Gore once again at Keller Fountain Park—this time to expose the economic dangers of cap-and-trade legislation.
Attendees will have the chance to listen to Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips and sign a petition urging their members of Congress to vote “no” on cap-and-trade.
The event is free and open to the public.

Hot Air Tour Coming to South Carolina
We're back on the road again this week with our anti Cap-and-Trade “Cost of Hot Air” Tour. This time we're in my home state of South Carolina educating activists about the dangerous effects Cap-and-Trade would have on the South Carolina economy and what they can do to stop this job killing, tax increasing legislation.
Last night we had a great event in Spartanburg with over 200 activists urging Senator Lindsey Graham to vote NO on Cap-and-Trade. One of our speakers was Walter, a West Point graduate and tax payer advocate, still fighting the good fight at 80 years old. Afterward, I had dinner at my mom and dad's house!
This morning we had a good event in Columbia with another 200 plus activists. As we do at all of our events, we asked our activists to call the senator's office and make their voice heard. Almost everyone called to tell Senator Graham to vote NO on Cap-and-Trade. Next up on our tour is Mount Pleasant, South Carolina tonight at 5:30PM.

Hot Air Tour Coming to South Carolina
Grassroots rallies to be held in Spartanburg, Columbia, Mt. Pleasant, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Oct. 26-28
As the debate rages on in Congress over cap-and-trade legislation, the free-market grassroots group Americans for Prosperity is taking its 2009 Nationwide Hot Air Tour to South Carolina on October 26-28 to give citizens of South Carolina the opportunity to make their voices heard by Senator Lindsey Graham.
The tour will bring its 70-foot-tall hot air balloon to grassroots rallies in Spartanburg, Columbia, Mt. Pleasant, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from October 26-28.
“This cap-and-trade scheme is nothing more than a tax on energy—plain and simple,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “Senator Graham now joins liberal members of Congress like Senator John Kerry in supporting the biggest energy tax in American history. We think American families need to know what these proposals will cost them – lost jobs, even higher energy prices, and less freedom.”
The Hot Air Tour has the goal of building grassroots pressure against costly state, local, and federal climate change policies. AFP has pledged to mobilize citizens in order to fight off any attempts to pass a cap-and-trade regulatory scheme, traveling to 15 states this year and hosting grassroots rallies with tens-of-thousands of citizen activists.
“As cap-and-trade legislation moves quickly into the Senate, we’re asking citizens at each event to urge Senator Lindsey Graham to sign our No Climate Tax Pledge,” said Phillips. “The pledge asks legislators to reject any form of the bill that increases the burden on taxpayers.”
Over 270 lawmakers and candidates have already taken the pledge. Citizens can send letters urging their legislators to sign the pledge at www.NoClimateTax.com.

Updates from the Tour
Big Crowd Sends a Message to Senator Nelson in North Platte
Last night we held our fifth stop of this swing of the Cost of Hot Air Tour in North Platte, Nebraska. Over 150 fired up activists joined us to send Senator Nelson a message: vote NO on the hidden energy tax scheme known as Cap-and-Trade.

The crowd heard more about the dangerous economic impact Cap-and-Trade legislation will have for their state from AFP Nebraska director Brad Stevens, AFP's Alan Cobb and Nebraska State Senator Tom Hansen. In the middle of addressing the audience, Brad dialed Senator Nelson's office and told him to vote NO on Cap-and-Trade because the citizens of the Nebraska can not afford sky rocketing energy costs as President Obama said would happen under this legislation.

Tomorrow morning we expect to encounter another crowd of activists in Lincoln ready to make their voice heard to Senator Nelson. Lincoln, Nebraska is the last stop of this leg of the Cost of Hot Air Tour but we'll be in Philadelphia next week.
Big Crowd in Rapid City
This morning we held another great Cost of Hot Air Tour event in Rapid City, South Dakota with 200 fired up activists. Gordon Howie of the Rapid City Tea Party was generous enough to allow us to use his ranch for our event. He's a great ally in our fight for freedom.

Gordon and I
We had a enthusiastic crowd that was eager to to tell Senator Johnson to vote NO on job killing, tax increasing Cap-and-Trade legislation. I met a lot of great patriots who talked to me about how Cap-and-Trade would kill their business and they felt they had to come out this morning to show their support.

Our great Rapid City crowd

A few activists and I talking
This afternoon we're heading down to North Platte, Nebraska to send Senator Nelson the same message: Vote NO on the energy tax scheme known as Cap-and-Trade.
If we keep up the fight we will beat Cap-and-Trade but the story must not end with August. If it does we will lose.
In fact, the big government Left is counting on our side losing momentum.
That’s why they intend to stretch out the upcoming session of Congress deep into October and November. Wait and see – that’s exactly what they’re going to do.
They believe that time is on their side. Our job is to show them they’re wrong.
Big Events in"Big Sky Country"
We took our "Cost of Hot Air" tour back to Montana on Monday with anti cap-and-trade rallies in Helena and Bozeman with our seven-story-high hot air balloon emblazoned with our message: "Cap-and-trade means higher taxes, lost jobs and less freedom." In Helena, almost 100 activists called Senators Baucus and Tester from our rally urging them to vote NO on the job-killing legislation that will be considered in the Senate after Labor Day. Then, well over 230 grassroots activists in Bozeman sent a strong message to the Montana delegation on cap-and-trade.

One small business owner told me he closed up two hours early to attend our rally because "cap-and-trade will put me out of business if it passes." A 77-year-old rancher with a weather-worn visage told me how his children and grandchildren would have to leave ranching--which has been in his family for three generations-- if cap-and-trade becomes law because of the new tax burden and increased energy costs.

You can feel the energy building out on the road against both cap-and-trade and health care. We're going to win if we keep fighting. Next up is Gillette, Wyoming on Tuesday afternoon.
